They want to get married but Eddie won't let exchange their vouls in marriage... Eddie and Beatice Carbon are marride...Eddie's family start to fall apart so he falls and dies... the standoff resolved into a conflict... ad nauseam

Faced with my inability to find my way around the pimped rig and log on to MSN, I have decided to update this to waste time.

I appear to have come down with a cold. I think this may be from the vast amounts of standing around in the cold, in a crack den, 'looking lively' on the video shoot.

Last night was my first trip to Shoreditch and the excitement within. Normally one would venture east for a curry or some leather shopping. We hung out in a crack house. We even saw two of the occupents: tiny stunted wee things, they were. A bouncer called Ted was employed for our protection and much weed was smoked. It helped with the looking lively. Ish.

I was disappointed not to see either Timo Maas or Brian Molko (sp?), but hey, there was a FAT and I mean FAT clown there. And an *uuuugly* transvestite. Rather like 4am at slimelight, which was the vibe he was trying for, apparently.

I can honestly say that if I never hear Timo Maas again, I will be happy. 'The first day of the rest of your life', my arse. Derivative techno by numbers more like.

At least it's another one of those things to do done.

I'm writing a scheme of work for English Language at the moment and I am covering Beowulf. I don't suppose anyone has a copy of it on VHS or DVD I could borrow and copy, do they? I think it would be a nice free teaching session and I, personally, would be immensely grateful.

Before I was feeling bleak

Then targ started to find jobs for me.

Then I cooked haggis and discovered budvar in the fridge.

So now we're playing cards and mah jongg, eating scottish fare and drinking booze.

It all helps!

Huzzah and yipyip.

We are going on our first proper skate of the year this afternoon. w00t.

I don't think skating around the train station in Madrid really counts. It was more of a 'well, we have dragged our skates all the way here, we should really use them' type affair.

Praying the weather bucks its ideas up so we can nic the pic on monday. Hyde or Regents Park, anyone?

Last night was spent in the grip of nightmare after nightmare. Ranging from having to fight the devil in a lighthouse to working in then torching a vivisection lab in America, I think Freud would have a field day.

Still, buying plum wine sorts all that out, and I am anticipating nummy tempah burger for lunch.

People putting themselves on websites asking you to rate them deserve everything they get...

And he thinks he's all that!

I have been living up to my feline reputation with a whooping 19 hours of sleep yesterday. It was a close run thing today, managing to get myself out of bed.

The thought of the piles of marking and planning I have to do, to say nothing of the as yet unknown state of my classroom, is doing nothing for my motivation. Bed seems like such a warm and comforting place.

Screw your courage to the sticking point. Get on with it.

Maybe tomorrow...

Being Boring

If you ask me 'What’s new? ', I have nothing to say
Except that the garden is growing.
I had a slight cold but it’s better today.
I’m content with the way things are going.
Yes, he is the same as he usually is,
Still eating and sleeping and snoring.
I get on with my work. He gets on with his.
I know this is all very boring.

There was drama enough in my turbulent past:
Tears and passion—I’ve used up a tankful.
No news is good news, and long may it last,
If nothing much happens, I’m thankful.
A happier cabbage you never did see,
My vegetable spirits are soaring.
If you’re after excitement, steer well clear of me.
I want to go on being boring.

I don’t go to parties. Well, what are they for,
If you don’t need to find a new lover?
You drink and you listen and drink a bit more
And you take the next day to recover.
Someone to stay home with was all my desire
And, now that I’ve found a safe mooring,
I’ve just one ambition in life: I aspire
To go on and on being boring.

Warning

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandles, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Jenny Joseph

I have to say that this sudden improvement in weather is rather topping.

Makes one want to throw everything away and start again.

Still, without the money, I'll have to content myself with some cleaning and some shopping.

As you may or may not know, I have chosen for many years not to have to TV. This has led to me missing the adaptation of Jerry Springer the Opera. This time I am forewarned.

Doctor Who is back!

But I don't have any means of seeing and recording this happy return to my childhood. Doctor Who is my secret geek fetish.

Please can some one be kind enough to record it for me so I can watch it? There are 8 episodes and I will happily pay for a video cassette(s).

You'll be making a sci-fi nerd very happy.
